Craigslist has emerged as the dominate portal to search for used cars for sale.
Newspapers are having a rough time now if you have not heard. It could be their politics but it is mainly technology. The Internet is not only making the world flatter; it has been the platform for a website that has been accepted by the world. Craigslist is found in over 540 cities and in over 45 countries. These numbers continue to grow. Craigslist has a list of all sorts of items for sale, including used cars. How much does it cost to advertise your car on Craigslist? How much does it cost to search for used cars for sale in your city? The answer to both questions is 0.
More people use Craigslist than the BBC. The power of the Internet is reigning supreme but when you add the word free to the mix, it is powerful magnet. What they do different than their competitors is to centralize their advertisements to an exact topographical region. You may be looking for a certain automobile, but now you know if you find a car that fits within your scope it is not 3 states to the left or 1,000 miles to the north. You may think this is ingenious, Craigslist thinks this is basic.
Furthermore, you can pinpoint the car of your dreams. Craigslist allows you to type in the title and model of the car of your prayers to narrow down your search. Perhaps you do not need a car at that exact point in time, so you can be a little more picky and specific. However, when your car is found, then you can contact the owner and drive over and see it. If you do not have a car, you may have to call up a friend for a lift.
For car sellers, Craigslist allows you to copy and paste pictures onto their website. Everything that is for sale on Craigslist has this option. Craigslist does not allow unlimited or even 50 pictures per item for sale - they allow four. That may not seem like a lot but it is enough to display your car and do not forget, this website is free for both sellers and buyers.
A seller may want to show at least a couple of pictures of the interior. It seems some sellers forget to do this. Just imagine, if you saw pictures of a car for sale but not the interior, what type of thoughts would you be having? Alternatively, vice versa, pictures of the interior but the exterior were excluded. This is just food for thought. Moreover, for used car sellers and buyers, Craigslist is a category killer.
Craigslist has some impressive market share and this seems likely to remain the same into the future, certainly in the used car market.
